This Sunday Scripture is actually coming out on Monday, the first day of the new year. But that’s what happens when life happens! With family in town for the holidays and two kids with the stomach flu, I didn’t get a lot done this past week. And I’m alright with that. In fact, I think I needed it.
With all of the chaos and festivities of the last year now gone, we all get to take a deep breath and refocus. I’ve never been one for resolutions, but starting last year, I’ve been making long-term goals to give myself some direction. Before becoming a believer, my life was completely directionless, so that is an easy default mode for me. I have to take care to be intentional to redeem my time.
My goals this year are encompassed in a Bible verse: Titus 2:4-5.
Love [my husband] and children,
to be self-controlled and pure,
to be busy at home,
to be kind,
and to be subject to [my husband],
so that no one will malign the word of God.
I am so excited to be taking my next steps in life from God’s Word. This is a first for me, and I know He will empower me to do His will. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.1 In the coming weeks, I will be posting about the practicalities of each of these goals. I will be starting a devotional to help me love my husband and children better. I am also taking steps towards getting my homekeeping in order through the FlyLady system.
I can’t wait to share my journey with you. I’d love to hear about yours! What steps are you taking to walk with God this year? How about practical goals or programs for homekeeping, budgeting, or improving your marriage or parenting? Let me know in the comments!
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. – James 1:22, ESV
In order to focus on accomplishing my goals and growing in Christ, I will not be posting regularly for a while. You can find out why HERE.
